This provisional checklist is a first approximation of all known vascular plant taxa from the Southern Rocky Mountain Region (SRMR). The SRMR includes all of Colorado, nine counties in southern and eastern Wyoming (Albany, Carbon, Converse, Goshen, Laramie, Niobrara, Natrona, Platte, and Sweetwater), and eight counties from northcentral New Mexico (Colfax, Los Alamos, Mora [western half], Rio Arriba, Sandoval, San Miguel [western half], Santa Fe, and Taos).

Data for the online checklist is taken from the Provisional Checklist of Vascular Plants for the Southern Rocky Mountain Interactive Flora (SRMIF). The online checklist was generated semiautomatically from this document: consequently, errors may exist in the online version: please consult the Provisional Checklist document for the most up-to-date information. Errors in the online version will be corrected as they are found.

Notes about the Checklist

1. Nomenclature at the family level follows Flora of North America for fern allies and gymnosperms and APGII (2003) for flowering plants. Three-letter family acronyms are indicated to the right of each family. Varieties typically are used in lieu of subspecies if the nomenclatural combination is available for variety.
2. Names of accepted taxa appear as the main entries in the online database. Synonyms of accepted taxa are indicated together with their associated accepted names. The attribution of names and synonyms is based on their use in one or more of the standard floras or checklists.
3. The term "Erroneous or unsubstantiated" indicates taxa and synonyms credited to the Southern Rockies that remain unsubstantiated, erroneous, or which may be expected given their proximity in adjacent states.
