The Specimen DatabaseAbout 200,000 specimen records have already been entered into databases at various participating herbaria. Our goal is to include all specimen records for the Southern Rocky Mountain Region found in the four principle participating herbaria, with up-to-date identifications and georeferencing information. The implementation of our database follows standards developed especially for data exchange among biological collections, to ensure that it is of the broadest possible use and availability. See Technologies for more information. This website will serve as the entry to all participating collections databases: one search will return specimen and biodiversity data from all of the distinct databases. Data sets obtained through the web site may be viewed directly by the end user, or may be used in electronic form for further study and analysis. Initial database searches will be available mid-summer 2004.
